The Face of Compromise

Obama Breaking a Promise or Necessary Sacrifice?

Okay, so it stirred up quite a bit of controversy when our nation's democratic president basically gave a 'thumbs up' to traditionally Republican tax cut for the wealthy- but analyzing it from the deeper end of things, it's a Brilliant plan.

If you really want something done between two sides, there has to be something in it for both. That's just how humans function- we're greedy! A quote that has definitely made Obama shine a little brighter in my (somewhat conservative but primarily liberal) eyes was one I read this morning in the Washington Post.

"I am not willing to let working families across this country become collateral damage for political warfare here in Washington, the American people didn't send us here to wage symbolic battles or win symbolic victories

I'm not going to lie- Obama was disappointing me a little at one point but things like this make me look at him the same way I did during the time of his campaign. Sometimes a few things have to be sacrificed to obtain a true victory; even if on the way up there it seems to be that all is lost. Hopefully this goes through and actually works. I mean- I for one know I can't complain about those 'across the board' tax cuts- What!? I'm a college student, we get a little stingy!

It's an expensive plan, it really is- so I understand those who oppose it, but when you look at the benefits that can be reaped from this, its a major investment. The savings people get mean people can spend more and that means more money flowing through the economy which is what the nation needs. Capitol Hill is on fire right now, they really are waging a symbolic war- but something needs to be settled ASAP!
